Objectives:

  1. To familiarize participants with computer-based software used for gemstone faceting design, with a strong focus on navigating the interface, tools, and core functionalities of the GemCad program.

  2. To guide participants in creating round and oval gemstone designs through structured instruction in faceting geometry, symmetry, and proportional relationships using GemCad software.

  3. To build proficiency in designing square, rectangular, and emerald-cut gemstones by applying digital design methods that ensure precision and visual harmony.

  4. To strengthen participants’ ability to develop cushion and hexagonal gemstone designs, emphasizing accuracy, creative structure, and evaluation of light performance.

  5. To encourage creativity and professional presentation skills by supporting participants in the design of fancy-shaped gemstones and the presentation of final projects using both GemCad and Gem Cut Studio.

The objective of the course is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of gemstones and the essential techniques used for their identification. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical training, participants will acquire knowledge of fundamental characteristics, classification systems, and gemstone evaluation methods.

The course covers key topics such as an introduction to gemstones, the classification of colored stones, imitation gemstones, the distinction between natural and synthetic gems, and treatments applied to gemstones.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to accurately identify various types of gemstones, recognize treatments and enhancements, and confidently distinguish between natural, synthetic, and imitation stones.

  1. To deliver essential knowledge of gemstone faceting, covering the fundamental concepts of cutting and polishing as well as the features of different faceting machines, including international standard models and traditional Thai systems.

  2. To introduce computer-aided design software for gemstone faceting, helping participants understand how digital tools enhance precision, efficiency, and creative design.

  3. To build familiarity with the materials, tools, and equipment used in gemstone faceting, including proper preparation methods such as trimming, preforming, and dopping techniques.

  4. To train participants in the proper use of the Facetron faceting machine, with an emphasis on correct operation, safety protocols, and routine maintenance for optimal cutting performance.

  5. To develop hands-on skills in faceting gemstones into both standard and fancy cuts, such as round, hexagonal, cushion square, and oval shapes, through practical training exercises.

  6. To refine accuracy and craftsmanship in gemstone cutting by focusing on facet alignment, proportional balance, and advanced polishing techniques that enhance brilliance and overall quality.

  7. To foster analytical and creative approaches to gemstone design and evaluation, preparing participants to assess symmetry, optical performance, and finish quality in completed gemstones.
